I am working on developing training programs and teaching materials for schools and communities and verifying their effectiveness. In recent years, I have been investigating issues in map literacy and risk communication through workshops for teachers and the general public using Web-GIS and the practical use of disaster prevention geographic information. In addition, based on my specialty of geography, I am also working on research on "placeness" in the transmission of disaster memory and lessons learned, and the social vulnerability of North American cities to disasters.
