IRIDeS open faculty position (Associate Professor (fixed-term), Disaster Public Health Lab)

IRIDeS is currently seeking a faculty position as follows:
      
Disaster Public Health Lab,
Disaster Medical Science Division

Position: Associate Professor (fixed-term)
Specialized Fields:
(1) Establishing disaster risk communication science for risk reduction using public health approaches, which will significantly promote citizens' pre-disaster preparedness.
(2) Research and practice to support the planning of individual evacuation plans for people with vulnerability in the event of a disaster, while ensuring “leaving no one behind” in line with the principles of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Qualification Requirements: 
(1) In-depth knowledge and interests in disaster prevention/ risk reduction and behavioral science related to disaster public health, as well as sufficient research and practical experience, and those who can be expected to play an active role in a leadership position.
(2) Approximately 10 years or more of practical experience in disaster prevention and disaster risk reduction related to disaster public health.
(3) Expertise, communication skills, and research and practice experiences that contribute to developing the disaster risk communication science, inclusive disaster prevention action, as well as the above Specialized Fields (1). 
(4) Communication and collaboration experiences, not only person-to-person but also with different academic fields, governments, media, and citizens in Japan and abroad are preferred. 
(5) Ph.D. is required.
(6) A career at the time of application as an assistant professor or above or equivalent at a university in Japan or abroad.
(7) Ability to advance interdisciplinary research and practice in Japan and abroad smoothly, both in Japanese and English.

(1)  Curriculum vitae and research activities (Form 1 and Form 2)
(2)  Summary of research to date, and research/practice achievements related to the above Specialized Fields 1 and 2 (Form 3, maximum of 2 pages).
(3) Communication and collaboration experience to date with different academic fields, governments, media, and citizens (Form 4, maximum of 2 pages)
(4) Aspirations for future research and practice related to Specialized Fields 1 and 2 (Form 5, less than two pages).
(5) Scholarly papers or books: Number them in correspondence with the list of research achievements and submit up to five copies of representative articles or books. In the case of a multi-authored book, include a copy of the publication data and the table of contents that shows how the applicant contributed.

Notes: 
Note 1: Application Forms from 1 to 5 should be written either in English or Japanese. 
Note 2: Publication list (Form 2) should be categorized as “Books,” “Peer-reviewed papers in academic journals,” “Reviewed conference papers and proceedings,” “Reviewed summary of conference papers and proceedings,” “Other papers,” “Industry property rights,” “Invited speaker,” and so on.  
Note 3: Applicants should submit three copies of printed Application Forms from 1 to 5 and one set of the selected printed papers or books. Please also send a CD, USB drive, or an equivalent media containing the digital files of Application Forms from 1 to 5 and the selected academic papers or books, preferably in PDF format.
Note 4: The submitted documents will not be returned to the applicants.
Term of Employment: Starting: July 1, 2024, or later (5-year term)
Salary: Salary: Payment will be made in accordance with the Tohoku University’s rules and regulations. Annual salary system.
