- Research Activities

Our office is working together with colleagues at IRIDeS and institutions in other countries to build stronger connections towards our shared goals of systematizing disaster science and practical research on disaster risk reduction.
We also aim to serve as a bridge to link disaster-related knowledge and experiences of the people living in the Tohoku region and Japan by coordinating collaborations between local people and organizations with researchers from around the world.
On the forefront of the new academic discipline of disaster science, we are working to contribute to the activities related to the implementation of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, 2015-2030, the promotion of international academic networks such as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and international activities towards disaster reduction such as the World Bosai Forum.
